The Convent of Our Lady of Providence Girl’s High School, Kolkata was started in 1947 to cater for the children of the Hindi-speaking workers in the city of Calcutta. During the years, hundreds of children have been given education and been empowered for the future. In 1994 it was possible to raise the school to become a full-fledged High school. The students were from the economically poor classes and the school was able to reach out to them in a very concrete way. As time went on, the parents of our Hindi Medium School requested that we upgrade the school and change it to English Medium. On the 2nd of May 2005, our long cherished dream became a reality!
Then on the 25th of May 2025, we achieved another milestone in the form of our affiliation with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations.
Dear Friends
Welcome to the Family
“To Love through Truth” is the motto of our school. This is the essence of what we instill in our students. At the Convent of Our Lady of Providence Girl’s High School, we believe we are nurturing self-assured leaders, who will give back to each other and to the society as a whole. We prepare them to embrace the world and what it has to offer. This combined with the strong foundation of moral values prepares them for any situation they encounter.
The Convent of Our Lady of Providence Girl’s High School, takes pride in producing well – informed young people, with a keen understanding of the world at large. Much attention is given to the all round development of the person. Our students are helped to be spiritually grounded, to be academically, emotionally and physically prepared. We believe in grounding our students in a value-based ethos and providing them with the tools to embrace their own individuality, as well as that of others. Our teachers are passionate about ensuring that each child learns and grows at her own pace. We will continue to be innovative as we teach and practice the skills necessary for the 21st century – skills which include the sensible use of technology, tolerance of diversity, compassion for those in trouble and pliability. We endeavor to equip our students to go out and make a difference and encourage our girls to have a voice in a complicated society and the world.
Improving the quality of tools for communication, and the importance of teachers, parents and administrators collaborating, we believe in frequent and open communication. Dear parents you are encouraged to check our website frequently to know about our exiting academic and co-curricular activities. I encourage you to contact the school and to ask questions you may have regarding the school and the programme we offer.
